Your Wedding Budget

What is your wedding budget?  Have you thought about how much the average wedding costs this day and age?  Experts say that before COVID, the average wedding cost between $25,000 and $30,000 depending on where you live in the United States.  The average cost of a wedding in 2020 was $19,000.  For some of us, that is well over half of our yearly salary.   So where do you start?  What should you spend on all of the various pieces and parts of a wedding?

Caterer – 37%

Entertainment – 8%

Flowers – 7%

Miscellaneous – 7%

Photographer / Videographer – 15%

Gifts – 2%

Invitations/Paper Products – 4%

Facilities for the Ceremony & Reception – 6%

Transportation – 2%

As you will notice, your biggest expenses are from the food you will eat, the clothing you will wear, and the photographer/videographer that will capture all of the memories.  Décor and locations are the next biggest budget eaters.  You can always click on the ‘wedding planning’ category to explore ways to save money on the wedding budget.

We suggest that you keep a notebook with a few scrap pieces of paper to write down notes on the various parts of the wedding planning process.  (If you become a Bella Lumiere Couple, then we provide you with a 100-page wedding planner for free!  Then you can take notes in the wedding planner we give you.) Keep notes on locations, ideas, etc. and how much they cost.  Once you book something, then add it to the budget.  We also suggest that you define, before you begin the planning process, what your budget will be.  Stick to it and don’t go over.  You will be much happier and perhaps even find a little creativity in the process of trying to save money.  Happy saving.
