The History of Bella Lumiere

Bella Lumiere Photography began as a mother-daughter team in 2012.  My daughter loved photography so much that I would take her out to shoot everyday after work. We spent hours out and about “snapping” photos and “chatting” about everything. I cherished those times. Soon “Snap & Chat” was born and the goal of becoming a Wilmington NC wedding photographer was set into motion. 

Each time we went out we’d practice a specific skill or technique. We pushed ourselves to grow and to produce better quality photos. Soon, family and friends started encouraging us to sell our “Snap & Chat” photos; they encouraged us to turn it into a business.   I still smile everytime I think about how it all business started. It grew from our love of spending time together into a wedding photography business. 

In December of 2016, Matthew and I married and blended our two families into one. As a result, I closed the photography business in early 2017 so Matthew and I could focus on our children and our new family dynamic together.  It was the right thing to do at the time and I am so glad that I did. Photography can be time consuming and we needed to give our new family the best opportunity to acclimate as possible. Family first! 

With the spread of ages between all four children, finding something to do that everyone would enjoy was challenging! Who knew that because I had been a Wilmington, NC wedding photographer, all of the children would be interested in photography?  So, in early 2018, we purchased new DSLR cameras, lenses, and accessories for each family member.  And our little family bagan traveling regularly to various locations for mini staycations just to shoot photography together.  To our hearts’ delight, photography brought everyone together as a family. 

I smile as I walk throughout our home and admire the various photos taken by each family member on those trips together.  Every photo brings back a memory… like printed moment in time.   For our family, our photos do just that.  They remind us of the happiness we felt as we shared time together. 

Today we are a happy, healthy, thriving family! Matthew sees the glimmer in my eye when I talk about the old days as a Wilmington NC wedding photographer. He knows how much I missed photographing weddings. Matthew encouraged me to re-open my old photography business. So, in July of 2019, we began the process of reopening the old business.

I took this opportunity to rebrand the business. I have a constant desire to learn and grow. My biggest goal in rebranding was to create the best photography experience we can for our clients. I am excited to say that I photograph weddings again and now with my husband by my side! Matthew and I are so excited to be able to serve as your photographer again.
